Wiaan Mulder replaces Eathan Bosch in NZ T20I series: Details
What's the story
South Africa all-rounder Eathan Bosch has been ruled out of the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand due to a hamstring injury. The player, who has only played one ODI for South Africa, was set to make his T20I debut. Wiaan Mulder has been named as Bosch's replacement in the 15-man squad for the series starting March 15.
Squad changes
Mulder last played a T20I in September 2024
Mulder has played 11 T20Is, with his last appearance being against Ireland in September 2024. His last outing for South Africa was a Test match in India last year. The players currently in South Africa will leave for New Zealand on March 8. The rest of the squad members and management, who are currently in Kolkata after their exit from the T20 World Cup, will travel directly to New Zealand on the same day.
Travel arrangements
The ICC has arranged charter planes for the teams
The T20 World Cup players returning home have been in Kolkata due to airspace corridors being shut in West Asia amid military conflicts. They are scheduled to leave India over the weekend on charter planes arranged by the ICC, along with England and West Indies teams. Keshav Maharaj will captain the team for the T20I series, which will be played across five venues in New Zealand.
