BMW India aims to sell over 20,000 cars annually
BMW India is aiming to sell over 20,000 cars each year by 2026, up from its current record sales of around 15,700 cars.
Sales have already jumped 13% this year, with a record-breaking September and a strong July-September quarter.
Clearly, more people are choosing BMWs than ever before, based on record sales data.
GST cuts have spurred demand for luxury cars
A big reason for this growth? The government cut GST on luxury cars to 40%, making BMWs up to ₹9 lakh cheaper in the higher luxury segment, with significant but smaller reductions in the entry-level segment.
Long wheelbase models like the 3 Series and iX1 LWB saw massive jumps in popularity, now making up half of BMW's sales.
EVs are another big reason for BMW's growth
BMW's electric cars are catching on fast—EV sales shot up 246% this year and now make up 21% of all BMWs sold in India (way above the national average). The iX1 is leading the charge.
Looking ahead, BMW wants EVs to be 30% of its Indian sales by 2027 and is planning to open showrooms in 50 cities and launch 15 new models across BMW, Mini, and Motorrad by the end of 2026.
