Tesla gets the green light for robotaxis in Arizona

Auto

Tesla recently received approval from Arizona to run its robotaxi service, getting the official ride-hailing permit on November 17—only four days after applying.
This means Tesla can now offer commercial rides with its self-driving cars in the state, highlighting Arizona's status as a hotspot for autonomous vehicles.

What's next: competition and expansion

Tesla is focusing on Phoenix, where it'll operate alongside Waymo, which has had driverless taxis there since 2018.
After testing robotaxis in Austin earlier this year (with human safety drivers), Arizona is now a key part of Elon Musk's plan to expand Tesla's self-driving services.
