Kingfisher Calendars are synonymous with glamor and fashion in India. They have helped advance the careers of many models. The man behind those calendars is none other than Atul Kasbekar, one of the most celebrated fashion photographers in India. It’s not just behind a camera that Kasbekar has showcased his skills. He has also been quite successful at being the financial power behind films. Born on April 22, 1965, in Mumbai, Kasbekar did his schooling in Champion School, Mumbai. He later joined the Institute of Chemical Technology to become a chemical engineer but dropped to pursue his dream of becoming a photographer. He graduated from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara in 1988 and then went on to train with famous photographers such as Dennis Gray, Rob Slenzak, etc. Kasbekar returned to India in 1990 and began his career by setting up a studio in Mumbai. In 2003, he shot the first edition of the Kingfisher Calendar. He is credited along with Vijay Mallya as the brains behind the calendar. In 2007, he began his celebrity management company ‘Bling! Entertainment Solutions.’ He made his debut as a producer with the 2016 film ‘Neerja.’ The film received critical acclaim and was successful at the box office as well. In 2005, he became the first Indian to win the International Food and Beverage Creative Excellence Award.
