After 'Dostana 2,' Kartik Aaryan bags 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2'

What's the story

It's raining sequels for Kartik Aaryan. After being finalized for KJo's Dostana 2, he has reportedly been signed up for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Coincidentally, he recently wrapped up shooting for Imtiaz Ali's Aaj Kal, opposite Sara Ali Khan, a sequel to Saif Ali Khan's Love Aaj Kal. He also has bagged the remake of Pati Patni Aur Woh, opposite Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Pandey.

Idea has been locked, script yet to be finalized

According to a Mumbai Mirror report, when Kartik was approached for the sequel, he happily "agreed to take the franchise forward." It added that though the idea is on the table, the makers are yet to finalize the story, which will be set in a metropolis. "While the makers have locked the idea, the script is still to be finalized," the source added.

Plans

Filming to start by year-end, music to play important role

Reportedly, Bhushan Kumar, the producer of the first Bhool Bhulaiyaa, "is invested in the film." He is planning to start "filming by the year-end." "The director will be locked in a few days, following which they will decide on the leading lady and the rest of the cast," the source reportedly stated. Music will apparently play a pivotal role in this one too.

'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' was a remake of a hit Malayalam movie

The 2007 release, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, featured Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja in lead roles. Helmed by Priyadarshan, the film was a remake of 1993 Malayalam movie Manichitrathazhu. It received universal acclaim and was a huge commercial success. Vidya's performance got special mention.

Kartik wraps up 'Love Aaj Kal 2,' pens emotional note

Coming back to Kartik, he recently wrapped up Aaj Kal, which he informed through an emotional Instagram post. The movie was shot in the locales of Himachal Pradesh and is slated to release on February 14, 2020. This will be Kartik-Sara's first collaboration together and with Imtiaz too. Apart from them, the movie also stars Randeep Hooda in a pivotal role.
