What's the story

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is reportedly launching his own film production company, according to PeepingMoon. The decision comes after a string of underwhelming films and projects stuck in limbo over budget. An industry source hinted this strategic move gives Singh more creative control over his work, saying, "He wants to be more creatively involved in his projects rather than leaving their fate entirely in the hands of others."

New venture

Singh's production company and upcoming projects

Singh has registered a production company and is setting up its office close to his lavish apartment in Mumbai's Prabhadevi. He is actively curating projects with filmmaker Aditya Dhar, who is also directing him in Dhurandhar and heads his own production house. One of the flagship projects in the works is a larger-than-life mythological film, rumored to be The Immortal Ashwatthama, Dhar's long-awaited mega-scale film.

Past endeavor

Singh's previous attempt at film production

This isn't Singh's first foray into film production. He had earlier registered a company called Maa Kasam Films in December 2017, but it was never officially launched for reasons unknown. It is unclear if he is reviving this earlier venture or starting a new one. However, what is certain is that Singh is now fully committed to building his production house with support from his wife Deepika Padukone, who also owns a production company named KA Productions.

Future roles

Singh's upcoming film projects and roles

Apart from his production venture, Singh has a number of acting projects in the pipeline. His confirmed release this year is Dhar's espionage action thriller Dhurandhar, a high-budget ₹250cr production where he plays an R&AW agent on a mission in Pakistan. The film also stars an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal. Meanwhile, his long-awaited superhero film Shaktiman has been officially put on indefinite hold for undisclosed reasons.
