'Have suffered repeatedly': IAS Officer Ashok Khemka on frequent transfers

Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Ashok Khemka, who was recently transferred once again by the Haryana government, took to Twitter to question his frequent transfers. "...I have suffered repeatedly, let it be once more," the 1991-batch IAS officer tweeted after being transferred along with nine others on Sunday. He has been transferred six times by the BJP-led Haryana government since 2014. Here's more.

'Whose interests do I protect?' questioned Khemka

Ashok Khemka expressed anguish over his frequent transfers on Twitter. "Whose interests do I protect? Yours or the people's you claim to represent?" he tweeted in Hindi on Tuesday. The senior IAS officer further wrote, "It's your arrogance that you will trample me under your feet. With pleasure; I have suffered repeatedly, let it be once more."

Here's what Khemka tweeted after his transfer by Haryana government

Khemka canceled mutation of land deal between Skylight Hospitality, DLF

Ashok Khemka, who first the headlines in 2012, is best known for canceling the mutation of an illegal land deal between Skylight Hospitality owned by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra and real estate developer DLF.

Khemka transferred for over 50 times in his career

Khemka was posted in Haryana's Sports and Youth Affairs Department, headed by state minister Anil Vij for 15 months. He was the Principal Secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs Department and was posted on Sunday as the Principal Secretary in the Science and Technology Department; he held the same post earlier too. This is reportedly the 52nd transfer in the IAS officer's 27-year service.

'News of another transfer; Vested interests win'

Ashok Khemka was transferred to Haryana's Sports and Youth Affairs Department in Nov'17. Before that, he was the Principal Secretary in the Social Justice and Empowerment Department. At that time, too, he had tweeted, "So much work planned. News of another transfer. Crash landing again. Vested interests win. Deja vu. But this is temporary. Will continue with renewed vigor and energy."

Why was Khemka transferred by Khattar-led Haryana government again?

While the Manohar Lal Khattar-led Haryana government transferred Ashok Khemka on Sunday, his transfer order issued by Chief Secretary DS Dhesi, however, did not provide any reason for the same. According to Indian Express, the reason behind his transfer was that he had criticized and expressed concerns over the state government passing amendments to an Act which allows construction in the Aravalli Hills.
