Articles about Robert Vadra
Robert Vadra is a businessman, public figure, husband of the Indian National Congress (INC) leader Priyanka Gandhi, and son-in-law of INC interim President Sonia Gandhi. Vadra first came into the limelight in 1997 when he got married into the Gandhi family, which ruled India in the initial decades after independence. He was born to Rajendra Vadra and his wife Maureen in a business family from Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district. After finishing his schooling, Vadra joined his father’s brass and artificial jewelry business. Except for his mother Maureen, all of his close family members passed away under dubious circumstances: his sister died in a car accident in 2001, his brother committed suicide in 2003, and his father was found dead at a Delhi guest house in 2009. In the late 1990s and 2000s, Vadra entered the real estate and hospitality business. In 2012, he came into the limelight again, infamously, because of shady land deals with DLF in Haryana. Since then, other cases allegedly involving him, like the 2015 Bikaner land deal and the 2009 petroleum deal, have also garnered media attention.
