Vinod Tawde: News

Vinod Tawde is a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician from Maharashtra. As a youngster, he was associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). He was the General Secretary of the Maharashtra BJP from 1995 to 1999, and again from 2002 till 2011. Between 2011 and 2014, he was the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Tawde won from the Borivali constituency in the 2014 Maharashtra Assembly elections and became the Minister for School Education, Higher & Technical Education, Culture, and Sports & Youth Welfare in the state government under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Ironically, there was a controversy around education minister Tawde’s academic degree, which was said to be awarded by an unrecognized university. Tawde responded by stating that he never hid this fact from the public. In 2020, he was appointed as Secretary in the national executive body of the BJP.
