Amazon Kindle update adds footnote, link previews

Technology

Amazon just dropped a new Kindle update (version 5.18.6) that makes reading smoother—now you can preview footnotes and links without leaving your page, which is great for textbooks or research.
In recent months, they've also added better spacing controls and an Assistive Reader to help with readability.

Update breaks popular jailbreak tool

On the flip side, this update has broken AdBreak, a popular jailbreak tool for ad-supported Kindles.
While Amazon didn't mention security fixes, users say their mods aren't working after updating.
Most Kindles will auto-update over Wi-Fi, but you can still update manually if you want more control.
If you love customizing your device, you'll have to weigh these new features against losing some modding options.
