Axiom-4 astronauts to explore insulin behaviour in space

Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla is joining the Axiom-4 mission for a 14-day stay on the International Space Station, where he'll study how glucose and insulin behave in microgravity.
This could finally open up space travel for people with insulin-dependent diabetes, a group that's usually left out due to health risks.

TL;DR

Research has potential benefits for Earth as well

The crew will test wearable glucose monitors and see how well insulin pens hold up in space-like conditions.
Their findings could help create better tools for managing diabetes—not just for astronauts, but also for people here on Earth, especially those who rely on remote care or telemedicine.
Plus, learning how bodies handle diabetes in space might lead to new treatments and smarter tech for everyone.
