Bengaluru engineer Gaurav Sen builds AI tool preparing pothole complaints
Bengaluru engineer Gaurav Sen has built an AI-powered tool that prepares complaint details in about four seconds.
Using a dashcam, GPS, and accelerometer, it records the road as you drive and then detects potholes from the recorded footage, logs their exact location, takes photos, sorts them by size, and prepares a complaint record, all inspired by Sen's own bumpy commute.
App matches potholes to 2,900 contracts
What sets this app apart? It matches each reported pothole to government road contracts from around 2,900 government road contracts. That means you can see which contractor is responsible and which government body should fix it, especially useful for roads still under warranty.
Sen demoed the app on Instagram on August 5, showing how quickly it can prepare complaint details with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, or BBMP.
With more than 2,000 deaths linked to pothole accidents every year in India, this could be a game-changer for safer roads.
