'Energym' deepfake video shows AI running gyms for jobless people
A viral deepfake video called "Energym" is making waves on Instagram, showing AI versions of Elon Musk, Sam Altman, and Jeff Bezos running futuristic gyms where jobless people generate electricity by working out.
Created by Belgian startup AiCandy and set decades in the future, the clip includes AI Musk saying, "What if we could use the energy of humans to power the machines that took away their jobs?"
It's a darkly funny take on how tech could reshape work, and life.
Co-founder on why they made it
The video hits home for many because it taps into real worries about AI taking over jobs and what that means for everyone's future.
AiCandy's co-founder Jan De Loore told Fortune, "Of course, it's a joke, but in every good joke, there's a bottom of truth."
The Black Mirror vibes are strong here. Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma even called it the "Perfect AI age ad !!" on X.
It's satire with a message: as tech changes fast, so do our anxieties about work and purpose.
