Mastodon 4.6 lets creators send posts to non-Mastodon users
Technology
Mastodon just dropped a big update (version 4.6) that lets creators send posts straight to your inbox, even if you don't have a Mastodon account.
The goal is to make it easier for anyone to follow their favorite writers or communities, and help Mastodon connect with a wider crowd.
Mastodon adds collections privacy and portability
The update also brings refreshed user profiles and a new "Collections" tool for curating follow lists, kind of like starter packs on other platforms.
Newsletters are built with privacy in mind, and creators can move followers between servers thanks to Mastodon's portability feature.
With 735,000 monthly active users, Mastodon hopes these changes will help creators build portable audiences on the decentralized web.
