Microsoft: 1 in 5 use generative AI, digital divide widens
Microsoft's latest report says nearly one in five working-age people globally now use generative AI tools, but the digital divide is getting wider.
In developed countries, 27.5% of people aged 15-64 are using AI, while in developing regions it's just 15.4%, and that gap has grown since last year.
UAE 70.1% adoption, US 21st 31.3%
The United Arab Emirates leads with a huge 70.1% adoption rate, followed by Singapore, Norway, Ireland, and France.
Barriers like limited internet access and English-focused AI models slow things down in poorer or non-English-speaking areas, though progress is happening in parts of Asia as more languages get support.
Surprisingly, even with big platforms like ChatGPT at home, the US ranks only 21st at 31.3%.
China sits at 16.4%, with some regions missing from Microsoft's data.
