Microsoft trains 56 lakh Indians in AI: Details here
Microsoft is making big moves in AI education—over the past 10 months, they've already trained 5.6 million Indians as part of their plan to skill up 10 million people by 2030.
This rapid progress highlights the growing importance of AI skills for India's workforce.
How the training works (and who's involved)
To keep up the momentum, Microsoft has teamed up with India's Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Together, they're offering an "AI Programming Assistant" micro-degree at 33 National Skill Training Institutes, aiming for half the participants to be women.
The course covers Python, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, and GenAI fundamentals—with over 1,600 hours of instruction at NSTI Bengaluru.
Why it matters
Microsoft India President Puneet Chandok calls this effort "more than a program — it's a movement to build a future-ready workforce."
The idea is to help people build real skills for jobs in tech, manufacturing, healthcare, and more, aligning with India's push toward digital growth.
