Taurid meteor shower peaks this week: How to watch

Technology

Heads up, sky-watchers! The Taurid meteor shower is hitting its peak this week, with the best views on November 12.
After some bright moonlight earlier this month, darker skies are finally back—giving you up to four hours of dark sky before the moon rises just after midnight to catch the show.
The Taurids run from mid-October to mid-November, but now's your chance for the best experience.

How to watch the meteors

Expect up to 15 slow-moving yellow-orange meteors per hour, some even bursting into bright fireballs thanks to debris from Comet Encke.
For the best view, find a dark spot away from city lights and look up before midnight—meteors will streak across all parts of the sky but seem to come from Taurus.
Give your eyes a few minutes to adjust and enjoy one of nature's coolest shows!
