UPI transactions can soon be approved using your face or fingerprint

Starting October 8, you'll be able to use your face or fingerprint as an alternative to the usual PIN to approve UPI transactions.
This upgrade aims to make paying online both safer and easier for everyone.

Biometric authentication

This new feature taps into Aadhaar's biometric database, helping tackle issues like PIN theft and device skimming.
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is showcasing it at the Global Fintech Festival in Mumbai.
It's designed to help folks who aren't comfortable with PINs and could boost digital payments in rural areas, moving India closer to a truly cashless future.
