What's the story

Google has released the June 2026 Feature Drop for its Pixel devices, coinciding with the launch of Android 17. The update brings a host of new features, including the ability to access apps as floating bubbles. This is similar to chat heads and allows users to open applications over their current view and minimize them into movable icon bubbles for easier multitasking.

Feature expansion

New Bubble Bar on Pixel Fold

The update also introduces a new feature called Bubble Bar on Pixel Fold devices. This allows users to access their floating apps from a dedicated strip at the bottom-right corner of the unfolded display. Another major addition is Screen reactions, which lets you overlay a selfie video with green screen over full display recordings using the new floating screen recorder.

Feature enhancements

Expanded capabilities for Quick Share and Magic Cue

The June 2026 update also expands Quick Share's AirDrop compatibility to Pixel 8a and 9a users globally. For Pixel 10+ users, Google is expanding Magic Cue to more messaging apps. The feature provides contextual suggestions for conversations, which will be rolled out over the coming weeks.
