Irani Cup: Ashwin replaces Jadeja in Rest for India squad

The BCCI has announced that India's premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin would replace Indian team-mate Ravindra Jadeja in the Rest of India squad for the upcoming Irani Cup. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja picked up a side strain a few days ago and hence will not be available for the clash against Ranji Trophy champions Vidarbha. Ravindra Jadeja has been advised a week's rest.

Ashwin named in Rest of India squad

"The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named R Ashwin as the replacement for injured Ravindra Jadeja in the Rest of India squad for the Irani Cup. Jadeja suffered a side strain and has been advised rest," the BCCI statement read.

Karun Nair will lead Rest of India

Ashwin, who was earlier named the captain of the India A, was forced to miss the Deodhar Trophy due to a 'niggling issue'. However, Ashwin has now recovered and he has been declared fit to play. Karun Nair will lead the Rest of India squad which boasts names like the talented Prithvi Shaw and the red-hot Mayank Agarwal.
