Pressure tactics
Gambhir on testing players under pressure
As mentioned, Gambhir also believes in testing players under pressure to bring out their best. He highlighted how Shubman Gill prevailed in his maiden Test series as captain. Under him, India drew the Test series in England (2-2) after winning at The Oval. Gill shattered a ton of records, scoring 754 runs at an average of 75.40 (4 centuries) and a high score of 269.

Gill to lead India in Test series against SA
Gambhir said, "Throw players into the deep end, it's as simple as that. We did the same with Shubman Gill when he was named Test captain." Gill will now lead India in a two-match Test series against South Africa, starting November 14 at Kolkata's Eden Gardens. India are coming off a 2-1 T20I series win against Australia under Suryakumar Yadav Down Under.
