Premier League: United manager Jose admits side needs a win
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that his side needs a victory over the weekend at home, as five games without a win won't be good for their confidence. United haven't won their last 4 matches across all competitions. Their home form this season has been woeful and now Newcastle United's visit in a crunch Premier League encounter could test United.
United off the pace in the Premier League
Manchester United have fallen off the pace after picking just 10 points from 7 matches. They lost to West Ham 1-3 in an away encounter last week in the EPL, and followed it up with a 0-0 draw in the Champions League against Valencia at home. It looks like the current United squad is lacking drive.
We need points: Mourinho
"We can do much better. To do that we need points - points we lost in the last two matches," Mourinho said in his press conference. When asked about whether another poor result would be an issue, the Portuguese replied, "Yes, I accept." Mourinho is under a lot of pressure and a defeat could put his job on the line.
Newcastle are struggling but can't rule them out
Like United, the Magpies have also been struggling. Newcastle are without a win in the EPL this season and are searching for their maiden victory. But results at Old Trafford by visiting teams could prompt them to come with a belief. Therefore this match promises to be a cracker of a tie. At the moment it is hard to predict a clear winner.
Confidence of players has been shattered
Jose's side needs to up its confidence level, which has been their prime issue. The forward line has been in shambles. Only Marcus has shown some belief. The primary players Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku have disappointed. Also the defenders have conceded goals and Newcastle would look to be effective on the counter. United need a complete show to win at home.
