Edward Michael Grylls OBE, widely known as just Bear Grylls, is a British adventurer, TV presenter, writer, and businessman born on June 7, 1974. His first television appearance was through an advertisement for Sure deodorant, which featured his ascent of Mount Everest. He is widely recognized for his television series 'Man Vs. Wild', which initially ran from 2006-11. He did several wilderness survival television series in the UK and the US that helped him rise to popularity. Some of them include 'Running Wild with Bear Grylls' and 'The Island with Bear Grylls'. In 2009, at age 35, he was named the youngest-ever Chief Scout of the United Kingdom and Overseas Territories. In 2018, he also became the first Chief Ambassador for The World Organization of the Scout Movement. Also, Grylls has written several books, including 'Facing Up' (UK)/The Kid Who Climbed Everest (US), 'Born Survivor: Bear Grylls', and 'Bear Grylls Outdoor Adventures', among others. In 2012, he released his autobiography titled 'Mud, Sweat, and Tears: The Autobiography'. Notably, in 2019, he was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) to honor his services to the media, young people, and charity.
