    IPS officer salary structure: Here's everything to know

    The Indian Police Service (IPS) is one of the most sought-after civil services in the country.

    Candidates are selected for the IPS through the UPSC Civil Services Examination, which is among the most challenging exams in India.

    The post of an IPS officer is a well-respected and powerful government position. The officers' salaries are also good.

    Here's everything to know about their pay structure.

    DSP, ASP, SP

    Salaries of DSP, ASP, and SP level officers

    After the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, reportedly, the pay scale of an entry-level deputy superintendent of police (DSP) officer, under a state police or central police force, is Rs. 56,100 per month.

    For an entry-level additional superintendent of police (ASP) officer, the salary is Rs. 67,700.

    Going higher in the hierarchy, a superintendent of police (SP) officer earns Rs. 78,800 a month.

    Higher officers

    SSP, DGP, IGP, ADGP, DGP officers

    The monthly salary of a senior superintendent of police (SSP) is Rs. 1,18,500.

    For a deputy inspector general of police (DIGP), the salary is Rs. 1,31,100, and an inspector general of police (IGP) bags a salary of Rs. 1,44,200.

    Finally, an additional director general of police (ADGP) earns Rs. 2,05,400, and the director general of police (DGP) of a state gets Rs. 2,25,000 monthly.
