    If you are a gym freak or have started working out recently, then a healthy protein-rich pre-workout drink is a must in your daily diet. It not only boosts your energy levels but also gives you intense strength and stamina to perform challenging exercises. Since commercial workout drinks are loaded with sugar which can be unhealthy for you, try these five homemade pre-workout drinks.

    Banana apple smoothie

    Loaded with micronutrients like potassium, magnesium, and vitamin B, bananas metabolize fats and carbohydrates and break them into energy which fuels your exercise. Apples are rich in fiber and keep you full for a longer time. Add chopped apples and sliced bananas into a blender. Blend with milk and honey into a smooth puree. Pour into a tall glass and serve chilled.

    Berry smoothie

    Loaded with strawberries and cherries, this healthy berry drink helps your muscle function at full capacity while working out. It also keeps you full for a longer time and aids in weight loss. Blend together chopped strawberries and cherries along with lemon juice, fennel seed powder, and a spoonful of honey. Pour into a tall glass and gulp it down before starting your exercise.

    Pineapple orange juice

    This delicious pineapple orange juice will give you an instant energy boost before a workout. Loaded with vitamin C, orange gives you energy and boosts your immune system while pineapple helps you recover quickly from your workouts. The addition of coconut water keeps your body hydrated during workouts. Blend together fresh pineapple, coconut water, and fresh orange juice until smooth. Serve chilled.

    Pomegranate and passionfruit juice

    According to a study, pomegranate juice helps in improving exercise performance and aids in post-exercise recovery. It will enhance your muscle pump and cardiovascular performance prior to exercise. Nutrient-dense passionfruit also promotes weight loss. Blend together pomegranate, honey, and passionfruit pulp. Pour into a glass and serve chilled. Have this drink 30 minutes before working out to stay active.

    Grapefruit and sweet lime drink

    Packed with high water content, electrolytes, and natural sugars, this healthy pre-workout drink will keep you hydrated and energized throughout your workout routine. Add chopped sweet lime and grapefruit into a blender and blend well. Pour into a glass, add black salt and honey and stir well. Consume this drink 60 minutes before hitting the gym to increase your exercise performance.
