Do you know what hurts even more than a breakup? When you have finally grown your nails to that desired length but one of them breaks off suddenly. This happens when your nails are brittle and unhealthy. Therefore, it's important to add nutrient-rich food to your diet to make your nails healthy, and strong and prevent them from chipping off. Here's more to it!

    Sweet potatoes

Packed with vitamin A, sweet potatoes promote nail growth and make them strong. Vitamin A in sweet potatoes helps in the production and division of cells that aid in nail growth. One sweet potato can fulfill 561 percent of our daily requirement of vitamin A. People who don't consume enough vitamin A suffer from brittle nails. You can prepare them as you like.

    Broccoli

Consuming green leafy vegetables is not only good for achieving stronger and healthier nails but is also great for your overall health. Rich in amino acids like cysteine, iron, calcium, folate, and antioxidants, broccoli promotes healthy nail growth. Iron in broccoli increases hemoglobin which supplies more oxygen to the nail bed. Your nails also end up looking nice and pink, besides growing faster.

    Eggs

Eggs are a perfect source of vitamin D, protein, vitamin B7, E, B12, iron, and biotin that improve the thickness of your nails. Biotin helps to increase the production of protein in the nail matrix that prevents them from getting dry and brittle, thereby, boosting their thickness. You can have it every day in the form of scrambled eggs, omelets, boiled eggs, or frittata.

    Almonds

If you are looking for ways to get stronger nails, then you must include almonds in your everyday diet. High in zinc, biotin, and vitamin E, almonds aid in the division of cells and protein synthesis which are essential for healthy growing shiny nails. About 23 almonds contain 60 percent of your daily vitamin E needs. Almonds can also prevent oxidative damage.

    Yellow peppers

Yellow bell peppers have more vitamin C than oranges. Vitamin C is known to boost the production of collagen, a protein that makes your fingernails grow faster. As you age, the collagen production in your body reduces leading to weak nails that are prone to breakage. One big yellow bell pepper has four times more vitamin C than your daily requirement of the nutrient.
