China's Shenzhou-20 astronauts safe after spacecraft hit space debris
Technology
China's Shenzhou-20 astronauts were set to come home on November 5, but their return has been delayed because their spacecraft may have bumped into space debris.
The good news: all three crew members—Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui, and Wang Jie—are safe and "working and living normally," according to officials.
Teams are now running extra checks and drills as part of preparations for their return.
Next crewed mission docked with Tiangong on November 1
These astronauts have spent six months at the Tiangong space station since April 2025.
Meanwhile, the next crewed mission, Shenzhou-21, just docked on November 1 with some mice for science experiments.
China's been making big moves in space since 2003—with its own station now in orbit and plans for a crewed Moon landing by 2030.
