Google just rolled out the File Search Tool for its Gemini API, making it easier for developers to plug real, reliable info into their AI apps.
The tool uses a retrieval-augmented generation model, so answers are fact-checked and come with citations you can actually verify.

You can upload files like PDFs, DOCX, TXT, or JSON—no need to stick to one format.
The tool's smart enough to find info even if you don't use exact keywords.
Pricing is simple: $0.15 per million tokens for the first setup; after that, searching your files is free.
