Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla's journey to ISS

Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla and the Axiom-4 crew just checked in live from their SpaceX Dragon capsule "Grace," now orbiting Earth over Europe.
They shared stunning views of our planet and introduced "Joy," a floating swan toy as a tribute to Shukla's son.
This is India's very first human trip to the International Space Station (ISS), as part of the Axiom-4 mission led by Axiom Space and Peggy Whitson.

TL;DR

'Namaskar from space'

Shukla greeted everyone back home in Hindi with, "Namaskar from space," said Shukla, addressing Indians in Hindi.
The team launched on June 25 and docked at the ISS a day later.
Their two-week journey is not just about science—it's a proud moment for India's Gaganyaan program, aiming for its own crewed mission by 2027.

How to spot the ISS

The ISS circles Earth every 90 minutes at about 400km up and looks like a bright, fast-moving dot right after sunset or before sunrise.
Want to catch it? Check out NASA's Spot the Station tool to see when it'll fly over your area.
