KL Rahul has been the best performer with the bat of late in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He dominated the scenes over the last few years for former franchise Punjab Kings. Having joined Lucknow Super Giants, Rahul will hope to lead the side by example and help the debutant side to do well in IPL 2022. We decode the records he can script.

Rahul has amassed a total of 3,273 runs in the IPL at an average of 47.73. He has piled up two centuries and 27 fifties with the best of 132*. He also has a strike rate of 136.37. Bulk of Rahul's runs have come in the last four editions of the IPL. Prior to that, he amassed 397, 142, 166, and 20 runs respectively.

When Rahul moved to Punjab Kings in 2018, he had a new lease of life. He hammered 659 runs that season at 54.91. In IPL 2019, Rahul stepped up once again, piling 593 runs at 53.90. In IPL 2020, he managed 670 runs at 55.83. Last season, he racked up 626 runs at 62.60. There's no doubt, Rahul is set for another cracking season.

Rahul can surpass the 3,500-run mark

Rahul is 227 shy of registering the 3,500-run mark in the IPL. Last season, he had become the fastest Indian to notch 3,000 IPL runs (80 innings). Besides the runs tally, he can also get to 300 IPL fours (282) and 150 sixes (134). Rahul needs 602 runs to get past the tally of former IPL sensation Shane Watson (3,874 runs).

Rahul has featured in 85 IPL innings and if LSG make it to the playoffs, he can reach the mark of 100. Rahul (27) is also set to surpass R Ashwin (28), Mahela Jayawardene (30), and George Bailley (30) in terms of matches captained in the IPL. Rahul, who has 29 fifty-plus scores, can surpass Gautam Gambhir (36) and Chris Gayle (37).

500-plus runs for the fifth successive season

If Rahul repeats the success of his last four seasons, he can go on to amass 500-plus runs for the fifth successive occasion. David Warner has the record of slamming 500-plus runs for six successive seasons (2014-2020). He missed the 2018 season though.
