What's the story

The much-anticipated sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar, is set to hit theaters on March 19. The film has already created a buzz with its advance bookings crossing ₹19cr. Amid excitement for its theatrical debut, the makers have confirmed that the spy thriller will stream on JioHotstar. However, the exact OTT release date is yet to be announced.

Box office success

'Dhurandhar 2' dominates advance ticket sales

The film has reportedly sold over two lakh tickets across languages, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The advance booking collection is estimated at around ₹13.42cr without block seats and approximately ₹19.03cr with block bookings for the advance booking in India. The film's popularity extends to international markets as well, where it has sold thousands of premiere tickets in North America alone.

Strategic release

'Toxic' postponement boosts 'Dhurandhar's release window

The film's release window benefited from a last-minute change when Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups was postponed. Originally slated for a simultaneous release, the gangster drama was postponed to June 4 due to rising tensions in the Middle East. This decision effectively avoided a direct clash between the two big releases. Meanwhile, on the OTT home front, although Dhurandhar is streaming on Netflix, its sequel is headed to JioHotstar, as spotted in the recently released trailer.
