#IStandForHirani: Sharman Joshi comes out in his support

In the #MeToo movement which started last year, another influential name of Bollywood has bit the dust. Notably, director Rajkumar Hirani has been accused of sexual harassment. It was reported that Hirani harassed an assistant director who worked with him on his last release Sanju. While the news left everyone shocked, Sharman Joshi has come out in support of Hirani. Here's what he said.

Back story: Hirani harassed his junior for six months

Hirani's name was dragged in #MeToo after a woman from his team accused him of sexual misconduct. She alleged that not only did Hirani make sexual advances towards her while shooting Sanju, but also harassed her for six months. The matter came to light after she wrote a detailed email to Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Anupama, Sanju scriptwriter Abhijat Joshi and Shelly Chopra.

Sharman is the first one to support Hirani

While the entire B-town is shocked by the allegations against Hirani, Sharman strongly voiced his opinion in his support. The 3 Idiots actor called Hirani a man of integrity, character, honor and truthfulness. He went on to claim that Hirani helped him in becoming a better person. Interestingly, Sharman is the first insider to support Hirani; he also started a hashtag #IStandforRajuHirani on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Dia Mirza wants an official inquiry

Earlier, Sanju actress Dia Mirza too admitted being upset with the news and demanded an official inquiry to unveil the truth in the case. "As someone who has known Raju Sir for 15 years, I can only hope that a due official inquiry is conducted. He is one of the most decent human beings I have ever worked with," Dia was quoted saying.

Arshad Warsi finds it hard to accept the news

On the other hand, Munnabhai actor Arshad Warsi also found it hard to come to terms with the allegations against Hirani. The actor called Hirani a wonderful man and admitted that it is hard for him to accept this about the director. "Until and unless there is a proper investigation and everything is credible we will not know the truth," Arshad told Bollywoodlife.

Is 'Munnabhai 3' postponed due to harassment allegations?

Notably, amid the sexual harassment allegations against Hirani, there are reports that his upcoming project Munnabhai 3 has been pushed to the back burner. The reports came days after Arshad dropped hints about the movie hitting the floors this year.
