The founder of Vinod Chopra Films and Vinod Chopra Productions, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is a film producer, director, screenwriter, and actor. After studying film direction at Film and Television Institute of India, Chopra directed his first short film, ‘Murder at Monkey Hill’ (1976), which won the National Film Award followed by the release of ‘An Encounter with Faces’, which won the Grand Prix at Tampere Film Festival. In 1981, ‘Sazaye Maut’ became Chopra’s first full-length feature film in the industry, starring some finest talents in the entertainment industry. in the following years, his ‘Parinda’ and ‘1942: A Love Story’ became landmark hits in Hindi cinema. In 2009, Chopra directed ‘3 Idiots’, which became the first Indian film to enter the Rs. 200 crore club and became one of the most successful films in India. ‘PK’, ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’, and ‘Sanju’ are some of the best movies produced under Vinod’s production house. In 2020, he produced and directed the film ‘Shikara’, which he dedicated to his mother, who had to migrate to Mumbai due to the Kashmir conflict in 1990.
