Rahul Sharma: News

The Indian Premier League has provided many unique players a platform to showcase their talents over the years. Rahul Sharma, a tall leggie from Punjab is one of those who utilized that platform to stake a claim for a spot in team India. Sharma began his cricketing journey as a medium pacer but switched to leg-spin at the instance of his coach. Albeit not being one of the biggest spinners of the ball, Sharma used his height to his advantage. His abilities to generate extra-bounce from the pitch and ball close to the wicket made him a menace. Sharma made his first-class debut for Punjab against Rajasthan in 2006. Although he produced some good performances for Punjab, it was IPL that brought out the best in him. He made his IPL debut for Deccan Chargers in 2010. The next year, he joined erstwhile Pune Warriors, in whose shirt he produced some memorable performances. Sharma made his international debut in an ODI against the West Indies in 2011. His T20I debut came against Australia in 2012. In 2012, he was tested positive for the use of recreational drugs along with Wayne Parnell.
