Tesla-rival Zeekr introduces world's fastest charging EV battery
Chinese EV maker Zeekr has unveiled a battery that can charge faster than any other in the world. The company claims that this new battery can power up from 10-80% in just 10.5 minutes, when using Zeekr's ultra-fast charging stations. Zeekr's new battery surpasses Tesla's charging capabilities. Tesla claims a 15 minute charge allows its Model 3 to cover 282km or about 48% of its stated 584km range, while the Chinese brand achieves a similar charge in significantly less time.
Performance in freezing temperatures
Zeekr has also revealed that its innovative battery could maintain the same charging performance in under 30 minutes, even when operating under freezing weather conditions of minus 10 degree Celsius.
The 007 sedan will feature the new battery first
Zeekr has announced that its forthcoming 2025 007 sedan will be the first model to incorporate this new battery. The sedan is scheduled to begin deliveries next week. This move signifies a significant step forward in the company's commitment to enhancing EV performance and user convenience through technological innovation.
Zeekr plans expansion of ultra-fast charging stations
Zeekr, a subsidiary of Geely, has already set up over 500 ultra-fast charging stations across China and aims to double this figure by year-end. By 2026, the firm plans to operate more than 10,000 such stations. This expansion strategy underscores Zeekr's commitment to facilitating widespread adoption of its fast-charging technology.
