AK Antony: News

Arackaparambil Kurien Antony, born on December 28, 1940, is a senior Indian National Congress (INC) politician from Kerala. As of 2021, he is a member of the Parliament in the Rajya Sabha representing Kerala. Notably, Antony is a three-time former Chief Minister of Kerala and was the youngest to hold the office when he first bagged the post in 1977 at the age of 36. He did his Bachelors of Arts from Maharaja's College and LLB from the Government Law College in Ernakulam, Kochi. He was an early associate of INC, right from his young days. He had been the Chief of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and also held senior designations in the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and the Congress Working Committee (CWC) over the years. Antony has been a member of the Rajya Sabha for five terms from 2005. Also, he served as the Minister of Defence under the UPA I & II governments from 2006 to 2014, becoming the longest-serving Defence Minister of India at a stretch.
