Retired IAS officer Anil Baijal is the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. He completed his education at the University of Allahabad and the University of East Anglia. Baijal is a 1969 IAS batch officer from the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory) cadre and was instrumental in the introduction of DD Bharti. During his tenure, Baijal has served in various positions including the Union Home Secretary under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, as the Chairman of Delhi Development Authority; Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Islands; additional Home Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; Managing Director (MD) of Indian Airlines; CEO of Prasar Bharati; Development Commissioner of Goa; the Commissioner (Sales Tax and Excise) of Delhi, and the Secretary of the Urban Development Ministry. He has also been associated with Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, which was introduced by Manmohan Singh Government. He was inducted as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi in 2016.
