Divya Spandana: News
Divya Spandana, also known as Ramya, is a popular Kannada film actress and politician. She was a member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Mandya in Karnataka. Apart from her political career, she has appeared in several Tamil and Telugu films. Spandana has also received several accolades in her acting career including a Karnataka State Film Award, two Filmfare Awards South, and an Udaya Award. In 2003, she made her feature film debut with the Kannada film ‘Abhi.’ In 2004, Spandana made her first appearance in the Tamil film industry with her stage name Ramya with the masala film ‘Kuththu,’ directed by A. Venkatesh. Following this, she went on to appear in films like ‘Giri,’ ‘Amrithadhare,’ ‘Gowramma,’ ‘Tananam Tananam,’ ‘Jothe Jotheyali,’ and ‘Aakash,’ among several others. In 2012, she joined the Indian Youth Congress and won the by-election in 2013 to become a Member of Parliament for the Mandya constituency. In 2017, she was appointed the national head of Congress’s digital team and she also took over INC’s social media wing.
