The master of Indian folk music and Sufi music, Kailash Kher, is a self-trained Indian singer and music composer. When Kher tried to find the right guru for himself, he failed at finding one. So, he started learning by listening to music. Initially, he tried his hand at business, but it collapsed in 1999, following which Kher tried to commit suicide. However, in 2001, he relocated to Mumbai and began his journey in the music industry. Initially, he sang a few jingles for television and radio commercials. He sang his first song in Bollywood for the 2003 film 'Andaaz'. He also founded the music band Kailasa in 2004. Kher gained popularity with the song 'Allah Ke Bande' from 'Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II' (2003). Later, his songs like 'Teri Deewani' from the eponymous album released by his band 'Kailasa' and 'Ya Rabba' from the 2007 film 'Salaam-e-Ishq' became a hit. These songs are cherished even today. Kher sang for numerous Bollywood movies and also released independent albums. By 2014, he had sung songs in over 20 Indian languages. He has performed in multiple international and domestic concerts as well.
