Dinesh Sharma: News
Dinesh Sharma is an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). A professor by profession, Sharma is serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, as of 2021. Previously, he has also served as the mayor of Lucknow. In 1992, he had joined the University of Lucknow as a professor in the commerce department. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee noticed Sharma’s political talent following which Sharma started his career in politics with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, which is a student wing of RSS. Later, he became the leader of the BJP’s Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. In 2012, he stood for re-election and defeated INC’s Neeraj Bora by more than 171,000 votes. In 2014, he was appointed as the National Vice-President of BJP after his contribution to the party’s success in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Sharma was allocated the ministries of Science and Technology, Electronics and IT departments and Higher and Secondary Education.
