Amit Sharma: News
Amit Sharma is an Indian film director and producer who predominantly works in the Hindi film industry. He is well known for directing various television advertisements. When he was in school, Sharma came in contact with film director Pradeep Sarkar who invited him to shoot a television commercial in Manali. Sharma worked with Sarkar for six years and moved to Mumbai in 2001. He decided to move out of Sarkar’s shadow two years after moving to Mumbai. He established his own company called Chrome Pictures in 2004 in partnership with director, writer, and producer Aleya Sen and Hemant Bhandari. In the same year, he rejected an assistant’s job for the 2005 film ‘Parineeta,’ directed by Sarkar. Sharma has directed over 900 advertisements for popular brands such as Amazon, Coca-Cola, and Google. Some of his notable advertisements include the ‘The Silent National Anthem’ advertisement and the Google Reunion advertisement. Sharma directed the 2015-film ‘Tevar' which wasn’t received well at the box office. His biggest success is the 2018 comedy-drama ‘Badhaai Ho,’ which went on to win two National Awards - Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Supporting Actress for late Surekha Sikri.
