Atul Agnihotri: News
Atul Agnihotri began his career in Bollywood in front of the camera but that’s not where he found his success. Restricted to second-class roles, Agnihotri decided to try his hand in filmmaking. His directorial ventures did not reap success, but he found his calling as a producer. Born on July 8, 1970, in Delhi, Agnihotri’s father was Rohit Agnihotri who was an actor himself. He developed an interest in Bollywood after his cousin Rati Agnihotri decided to try her luck in acting. He made his Bollywood debut as a child actor way back in 1983 in ‘Pasand Apni Apni.’ His stint as a senior actor began in 1993 after he was cast in Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Sir.’ The film’s critical and commercial success meant that Agnihotri wasn't short of roles. Not satisfied with supporting roles, he decided to try his luck in direction. He made his directorial debut in 2004 with the film ‘Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa’ starring Salman Khan, Bhumika Chawla, and Preity Zinta. His next film was ‘Hello’ in 2008. Both films fared poorly at the box office which led to Agnihotri abandoning film direction. In 2011, he produced the Hindi remake of the Malayalam movie ‘Bodyguard’ with the same title. The film turned out to be one of the all-time blockbuster films in Bollywood.
