Barkha Dutt: News
Barkha Dutt is an author, columnist, and reporter working as a journalist for over 25 years. Daughter of noted journalist Prabha Dutt, she has done her Masters in Mass Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia Mass Communication Research Center, New Delhi. Dutt began her journalistic career with NDTV, continuing there for roughly 21 years until she decided to move on in 2017. While at ‘NDTV’, Dutt hosted shows such as ‘We the People’ and ‘The Buck Stops Here’ that were well-received by both audiences and media critics. She’s especially known for her coverage of the 1999 Kargil War, live from the battlefield. Later in 2019, Dutt moved on to ‘Tiranga TV’ but left after a few months due to disputes with the channel owner, veteran politician Kapil Sibal. She's currently a contributing columnist for The Washington Post and working as an independent journalist with her own company, MoJo. Dutt’s chequered career, while marked with many highs, is also marked with lows such as the Radia Tapes scandal. Notably, she was awarded the Padma Shri in 2008 by the UPA government. In 2000, she was also bestowed with the Chameli Devi Jain Award for Outstanding Women Mediapersons.
