Victor Hasselblad AB is a Swedish manufacturer known for its medium format cameras, image sensors, and photographic equipment. Its headquarters are based in Gothenburg, Sweden, and was established in 1841 by Fritz Wiktor Hasselblad as a trading company. The photographic division was started by Fritz’s son Arvid Hasselblad. Over the years, it manufactured cameras in collaboration with Kodak as well as Fujifilms. In 1962, NASA started using the company’s cameras on space flights. The Hasselblad 500 C modified cameras were used in Project Mercury missions in 1962-63 and in the Gemini space flights in 1965-66. The 500 EL (Hasselblad Electric Camera) was used in the Apollo program mission where the first humans landed on the moon. In 2016, the company introduced the X1D-50c, the world’s first digital compact mirrorless medium-format camera.
