Ashton Agar: News

Born to a Sri Lankan mother and an Australian father, Australian cricketer Ashton Agar's career is filled with twists and turns, whether to his liking or not. A player who was not handed a contract by Victoria, moved to Western Australia for the 2012-13 season, played both his first-class and List A matches for Western Australia, and a month after his Sheffield Shield debut, he was called into the Australian Test team. Agar made his Test debut against England in 2013. When Michael Clarke picked a 19-year-old debutant over the more experienced Nathan Lyon, it made many scratch their head, but Agar repaid the faith when he scored 98 runs as the 11th man in Australia's first innings. Although Australia lost, Agar was looked at as a bright prospect. However, his international fortunes took a nosedive after that. After his first Test at 19, he played only three more Tests. A bowler who takes his batting very seriously, Agar found himself a place in the T20I set up by 2020. He took a hat-trick against South Africa in a T20I. Agar is now part of the ODI squad as well.
