Raghubar Das: News

Raghubar Das is an Indian politician who is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He has served as the sixth Chief Minister of Jharkhand and has also served twice as the President of BJP’s Jharkhand unit. Das is serving as the National Vice President of BJP, as of 2021. He was born on May 3, 1955, in Madhya Pradesh and completed his education at Jamshedpur Co-operative College and Ranchi University. Das has served as an employee of Tata Steel and has been a former functionary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). During his college days, he was actively involved in politics and participated in the Total movement led by Jayprakash Narayan. He was jailed during the Emergency declared by Indira Gandhi. In 1977, Das became a member of the Janata Party. Das joined BJP as a founding member in the year 1980. He was also appointed as Urban Development Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister in the state. He is the first Chief Minister to complete a full term in Jharkhand.
