Zomato

A restaurant aggregator and food delivery company, Zomato has been in the news a lot recently. Founded in 2008, this Indian start-up operates in more than 10,000 cities in 24 countries. It provides information and details about menus and user-reviews of restaurants, and also food delivery options from partner restaurants. Off late, in light of the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, Zomato had started delivering groceries under the name of Zomato Market. And after two months, sources said that this “is not working out for them.” There has been no official verification though. Zomato also is into alcohol delivery in Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal, along with its competitor, Swiggy. Further, Zomato, in May, had laid-off 13% of its workforce, which was confirmed by Deepinder Goyal (Founder and CEO).
