Kendrick Lamar is a popular American rapper, record producer, and songwriter who is known as one of the most influential rappers of his generation. He is the recipient of several accolades including a Pulitzer Prize, 13 Grammy Awards, six Billboard Music Awards, two American Music Awards, a Brit Award, an Academy Award nomination, and 11 MTV Video Music Awards. He is also a member of the American hip-hop supergroup called Black Hippy. Lamar’s musical journey started at the age of 16 when he released his first full-length project which was a mixtape called ‘Youngest Head Nigga in Charge (Hub City Threat: Minor of the Year).’ It was released under his pseudonym K.Dot and it led to his signing with the independent record label, Top Dawg Entertainment. In 2005, Lamar released a 26-track mixtape named ‘Training Day.’ He gained popularity in 2010 after his first retail release of ‘Overly Dedicated.’ In 2011, Lamar released his first independent studio album called ‘Section.80,’ which also contained his debut single ‘HiiiPoWeR.’ After this, he went on to release notable albums like ‘Good Kid,’ ‘m.A.A.d City,’ ‘To Pimp a Butterfly,’ ‘Untitled Unmastered,’ and ‘Damn,’ among several others.
