Carl Pei is a Chinese-born Swedish citizen well known for co-founding OnePlus and more recently, a technology company called Nothing. Pei dropped out of the Stockholm School of Economics in 2011 and co-founded OnePlus with Pete Lau in December 2013 after years interning at Nokia and working for Meizu and Oppo where he reported directly to Lau. The OnePlus One sold close to a million units in its first year, over 50,000 units more than the company’s initial expectations. In September 2020, Pei exited OnePlus to start Nothing. His new company’s first product is a pair of true-wireless earphones called the Nothing Ear (1). Nothing, the company, is based in London and counts several famous people among its investors including iPod inventor Tony Fadell, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman, and celebrity YouTuber Casey Neistat. Pei has featured on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2016. In 2019, he was included in the Fortune 40 Under 40 list.
