Andrew Flintoff: News

Andrew Flintoff is a cricketer who has achieved the status of a demi-god for his performances on the field. In a career in English colors that has inspired many to compare him to the legendary Ian Botham, Flintoff motivated the English team to perform beyond what they were capable of throughout the years he spent in the team. He made his Test debut in 1998 against South Africa. He was an underperformer at first, and it was only in 2002 did he achieve some semblance of consistency. The summers of 2003, 2004, and 2005 etched Flintoff's name in history as one of the best all-rounders to play the game. It was in 2005 that he inspired England with the bat, ball, and his leadership. Flintoff's leadership qualities led to him being named the captain of the English side that toured India in 2006. Under his leadership, England secured a draw in the Test series. However, his captaincy was short-lived as the England team led by him suffered a whitewash in Australia. Flintoff played his last Test and ODI matches in 2009, and in 2010, he announced his retirement from all formats of the game.
